The lecture given to the students of The School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD) of Auburn University focused on my personal path in graphic design. Arranged into six chapters, the first chapter (Before Graphic Design) illustrated the local context where I grew up and the early stimulus received in both art and design, before having a real knowledge of what graphic design actually was.

The second chapter (Towards Graphic Design) briefly described my educational path in the fields of art, architecture and graphic design, while Chapter 3 (Graphic Design Practice) showcased a selection of projects that we designed over the course of nearly 15 years.

Chapter 4 (Graphic Design Culture) focused on the cultural committment expressed through the projects of Designculture and the Archivio Grafica Italiana, while Chapter 5 (Behind Graphic Design) was dedicated to the understanding of the graphic design discipline and its evolution over time, through selected examples chosen among some of the best examples in the history of Italian graphic design.

Finally, the last chapter (Beyond Graphic Design) was dedicated to the practice of photography that I cultivate parallel to my professional practice in graphic design, as an activity that complement and enriches my intellectual and aesthetic sensitivity.
